For the Love of Kenya
Despite the fact that I have been in Australia for four years, my love for my country Kenya still remains and I couldn't be more proud to be Kenyan. This is a special tribute to my country, because today, Kenyans all over the world are celebrating "Jamhuri Day" (12 December, 1963), the day Kenya gained its Independence from the United Kingdom. This day is important in the Kenyan calendar, as it reminds all Kenyans to embrace and celebrate their cultural heritage.
The Kenyan Community for Western Australia organised a Kenyan Ball which was held on 1st December, 2006. We even got to hear a word of encouragement from the Kenyan High Comissioner, who had left his busy schedule in Canberra to participate in this event. These are some of the photos from the Kenyan Ball. To every Kenyan who gets to read this post today, Happy Jamhuri Day.
